Introduction :

Hepcdac is a cipla med product, it is film coated tablet contains active ingredient such as Daclatasvir. It is mainly indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C viral infection.

Hepcdac is a directly acting anti viral agent. It is active against the hepatitis C virus (HCV). It is HCV non structural protein NS5A inhibitor. Hepcdac with Sofosbuvir involved in the treatment of chronic HCV genotype III infection in adolescent.

Dosage and administration :

The prescribed dose of Hepcdac is 60mg, which is taken orally as a single dose for 12 weeks.

Dosage modification due to drug interaction :

Strong Inhibitors of (CYP3A): Daclatasvir dosage decreased to 30mg when coadminstered with strong CYP3A inhibitors.
Moderate CYP3A Inducers: Dosage of Daclatasvir increased to 90mg when co administered with moderate CYP3A inhibitors

Side effects:


Nerve disorders :

• Headache
• Dizziness
• Migraine
• Somnolence

Dermatological problem :

• Erythema, Pruritus, rash, dry skin,
• alopecia and Erythema multiforme

Psychological problems: :

• Insomnia, irritability
• Depression, anxiety

Blood related problems :

• Anemia, neutropenia
• Thrombocytopenia
• decreased hemoglobin
• Eosinophilia

Pulmonary disorders :

• Cough
• Nasopharyngitis
• dyspnea
• Exertional dyspnea
• nasal congestion
• upper respiratory tract infection

Skeletal muscle problems:

• Myalgia
• arthralgia
• Back pain

GIT :

• Diarrhea, nausea
• Upper abdominal pain
• abdominal pain
• constipation, flatulence,gastro
• esophageal reflux disease
• dry mouth, vomiting
• elevated lipase


Digestive problems :

Decreased appetite

Ocular :

Dry eye

CVS :

• Symptomatic bradycardia
• heart block
• cardiac arrhythmias


Liver problems :

• Increased ALT (alanine transaminase)
• increased AST (aspartate transaminase)
• increased total bilirubin
• Hepatitis B reactivation

Allergic reaction,

Breathing difficulty,

Peripheral swelling.

Combination of Daclatasvir, Sofosbuvir with amiodarone can cause fatal side effects on heart. Patient receiving Daclatasvir with Sofosbuvir with amiodarone may lead to; Slow heartbeats

Chest pain,

Shortness of breath; or

A light-headed feeling,

Contraindications :

Hepcdac contra indicated with some active substance like, phenytoin, carbamazepine, rifampin, St. John’s wort, an herbal product.

Pregnancy :

Hepcdac not used in pregnancy and lactation period.

STORAGE :

Hepcdac container should be stored at 15°C and 30°C, not exceeding 30°C.
